of that novel
Just about as good as it gets July 27, 2015
Richard Peters is a master of homoerotica, and his novels explore many variations of male sexuality. "Archie" is a take on the love affair between two unsophisticated young men in the late Victorian/Edwardian era, and Peters captures the nuances of sexual attraction between an upper class lad and a middle class one. The period details are well depicted, and there is a chilling supernatural aspect to the story.
I loved the book, and have recently re-
I was prompted to write this review on learning that Peters has begun a sequel to "Archie." He says that it seems to be virtually writing itself, and I have to say that novels written in this way are usually fascinating, because the author is really committing himself to the printed page, and in reading them one gets a sense of coming to know the writer. I've had the feeling that this is the case with many of Peters' books, and he is someone I'd really like to know . . . .
Bridget Jones on Steroids October 22, 2015
It's no secret that I'm a fan of Richard Peters' erotic novels, he's a master of what's sometimes referred to as the one-
But then, Peters (cunning old fox that he is!) turns the whole thing on its head, and the book becomes a splendidly sexy romp, with something for everyone. I certainly found it a very satisfying read.
Peters has written many books. I have them all, and recommend them all to anyone who shares my tastes. For anyone who's not read these books, Cult Busters is probably as good a place to start as any. Peter's style is quite colloquial, which is entirely appropriate for their content.
There's something about a sailor May 9, 2015
This book, set in the period immediately after World War Two, deals with the downfall of a naïve young man, and his eventual redemption by a handsome young Royal Navy rating. I have memories of a time, rather later, when I used to occasionally travel on a ferry with naval ratings going on liberty. In their sexy uniforms, chain-
Richard Peters perfectly captures the potent sexual aura of young sailors in that era, also the sexual connotations of cigarette smoking in those days.
Of all his books I've read, this is the most uncompromisingly erotic. The encounters on shipboard and in North Africa are strong stuff, but it's never gratuitous. That, I think, is part of the secret of Peters' books. While he withholds no physical details, the sex is absolutely relevant to the storyline. Together with excellent character development of the characters, and a humorous touch, that makes for an absorbing and very stimulating read.
In essence, this is actually a romance, and I don't think I'm giving too much away if I say that, as so often, Richard Peters delivers a happy ending, and this is faithful to the feel-
Move over James Lear! May 6, 2015
James Lear has described his books as being written to provide the reader with an orgasm in every chapter, and he is a master of this craft. But in this reader's opinion, the novels of Richard Peters surpass those of Lear. Peters' style is less literary, to be sure, but there seems no limit to his powers of invention when it comes to plots, and his characters are so believable. He perfectly captures the confusion of so many randy young men who don't really know how to direct their seething sexuality. Thus each novel becomes a magical journey of erotic discovery.
"Close Friends" is set in the comparatively recent past. The period details ring true-
There's nothing more erotic than a slow build up to eventual sexual consummation, and it's certainly true of this story. But, be assured, the most intimate details of the lives of the two boys are laid bare from the very beginning. I strongly recommend this as a most stimulating read, right through to the happy ending!
Gay or Straight/Reality or Fake April 24, 2015
This really remarkable book, addresses the issues of the countless young men who have found themselves attracted to other men as well as women. It also addresses the matter of so-
Richard Peters has published a considerable number of highly explicit gay/bisexual novels. Unlike most writers in this genre, despite almost back-
He also has a seemingly endless capacity to dream up original plots, and, in my considerable experience of gay fiction, the plot of "Str8 Boyz" is absolutely unique.
Peters' style is perhaps a bit unusual, but he's writing about ordinary British lads doing what comes naturally to them, and his prose, both in narrative and dialogue, is totally faithful to that. Personally, I am a fan of dirty talk, and it's this as much as anything that carries the story line along.

“For those that love the intrigue of Victorian/Edwardian society and it's hidden hypocrisies , this book is for you. The homoerotic romance of two young men of different social standings and their explorations of the "boyish ways", intermingled with occultism, will hold you in complete suspense. The author carries you away through the charming and flowery verbiage of the times where poetry and grace can be mixed with masculine vigor. With the awakening of pleasures undreamed of, the two young men form a relationship with disregard of the draconian society at hand.”

“It grew on me, had a certain style, flair for the dramatic. An extremely candid stream from Ian, some erotic, some down right raunchy, some tipping the taboo too. Whether you're reading for titillation or edification, this one has merit.”

Amazon Customer reviewed Str8 Boyz?
“This book is about eight men who are selected to be on a reality TV show. They are either hetrosexual or homosexual but each guy hides their true idenditfication from the other contestants. This leads to some hanky panky as sex rears its head. After all, eight weeks is a very long time for the young troopers to go with out sex. Temptation is all around them as they try to define the others inclinations while hiding there own. The writer of this book has a great command of the english language and this is a well composed novel. I warrant that you will enjoy it, be aroused by it and it will lead to several exciting times.”
